The STEM Wave program collaborates closely with the STEM lab to support Miami Dade    College, Homestead Campus students throughout their academic journey in STEM.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Our funded research allows students to work alongside faculty mentors, gaining hands-on experience that prepares them to transfer to selective four-year institutions and for future work in STEM.

STEM Wave funded research projects include:

  • Characterization of the 4-aminophenol (4-AP) colorimetric reaction with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD)
  • Discovery of Novel Proteins Binding to HIV Reverse Transcriptase
  • Honey Chemometrics: A CURE (Course based Undergraduate Research Experiences) approach
  • Hydroponics with Tokyo Bekana - “Space” Cabbage
  • Peak Ionospheric Height as a Proxy for Global Warming

Student Success Workshops

STEM-related workshops are offered throughout the academic year to enhance student engagement and exposure to topics in STEM. These academic experiences are offered beyond the classroom to connect students to our STEM community and to a network of STEM professionals and researchers. From seminars on best practices in STEM to time management and study skill workshops, these workshops are designed to boost student success and curiosity.
