Changemaker Week!

Changemaker Week is a weeklong celebration and activation of MDC's commitment to changemaking and changemaker education. Held each fall across all eight campuses and throughout our neighboring communities, this initiative fosters awareness, encourages meaningful engagement, and promotes collective action in support of positive social impact. We invite you to view highlights from last fall’s Changemaker Week through our photo gallery and experience the impact of this college-wide effort. Save the date for this year’s celebration: September 14-20, 2026 and stay tuned for opportunities to participate across all campuses.

Changemakers Work to Improve Living Conditions for Everyone and the Planet

You can make the world a better place by learning deeply about issues that matter to you and taking action to create positive change in those areas.

There are many ways to create change: volunteering for service, advocating for policy or systemic change, assisting with critical fundraising, proposing creative and innovative solutions, or running ventures that support social and environmental concerns. Whatever their path of action, changemakers thrive on keeping a positive frame of mind, an entrepreneurial spirit and the determination to work for the benefit of all.

At MDC, changemaker education (CME) is defined as the exploration of relevant community and global challenges through high-impact teaching practices that promote the development of our changemaker attributes of empathy, reflection, resilience, and action.

Connect on EngageMDC!

EngageMDC is the place to connect with all things related to student engagement at MDC! Whether it's about getting involved in student clubs, attending campus events, and/or engaging with changemaking activities, EngageMDC is the place for you. Students can find volunteering and other opportunities here, and they can add "impacts" for any changemaking activities. MDC faculty can register their Global Sustainability and Earth Literacy Studies (GSELS) classes and designate if their classes include the Civic Action Scorecard, Academic Service-Learning and if any Sustainable Development Goals will be included in their class. MDC students and faculty can also connect with over 100 local non-profit community partners through EngageMDC. Check it out today!
